The surf report ap on my phone suggested Wilderness was going to have the biggest waves in my vicinity today. I hadn't ever been here before so this River City Photography field trip was a slight adventure getting to the location. I didn't make any wrong turns, but I certainly wasn't prepared for the soggy dirt road I encountered. It has been a long time since I have taken any vehicle "mudding," and a 14 year old 4Runner with nearly bald tires wouldn't be my first choice, but I made due and even enjoyed the sloppy, bumpy drive to the remote parking lot. Ruins of old brick and concrete buildings line the beach as you approach the surf spot and they make for interesting subjects. I met some interesting people today too. Alexi, Mike and Sean each were great guys and gave me some good info about the local scene. I hope to catch up with them and others down the road and get some more good shots. Continue reading →
