2013/4/29- HDR Hills, Valleys, and Ocean

River City Photography field trip. For a long time I have been wanting to do some more exploring in the hills above Rincon and Mayaguez, Puerto Rico and see the view from atop the hills and radio towers overlooking the valleys. I finally had that opportunity and decided to see what a set of High Dynamic Range photos would look like with the clouds and storm that were rolling over the southern half of the island. Most of the hills are covered with thick foliage which prevents a clear view of the valleys, but here and there we found some openings that let us get clear shots. The views were nothing less than inspirational. We could see south almost down to Cabo Rojo and the southern tip of the island and west, well past Desecheo Island which is about 1/5 - 1/4 of the way to the Dominican Republic. Also thrown in are a couple shots from The Horned Dorset in Rincon- a beautiful hotel/ resort on the water. When people book weddings here they are required to reserve the whole hotel. The rate for this is $12,000 per night. Continue reading
